Kay Lindsey Brister

Kay Lindsey Brister of New Orleans, LA, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at the age of 28. She was born in Jefferson, Louisiana on April 19, 1995. Kay is survived by her father, Kenneth Gary Brister; mother, Catherine Fraser Smith; stepfather, Keith Lewis Smith; sister, Leigh Elizabeth Brister; grandmother, Elsie Clark Kayser; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kay, a Cum Laude graduate from Mount Carmel Academy and honor graduate from the University of New Orleans, was a dedicated employee working as an engineer at the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Hydraulics, Hydrology and Coastal Branch. A determined free-spirit, Kay was passionate, loyal, and a fierce defender of her loved ones and her beliefs. She enjoyed being on the water - whether above in a boat, or below with a snorkel and fins. She was an avid animal lover and advocate for the underdog, furry and human alike. Her contagious sense of humor and brilliant mind kept those around her both laughing and on their toes. Kay will be greatly missed by her family, friends, all of those whose lives she touched, and her beloved feline companion Thai.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by a service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
