Judy Moreci Colgan, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2023. Judy was the embodiment of warmth and grace and had an enduring love for her family. She was 85.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, John Ignacis Moreci and Dorothy Marie Guenard Moreci; her son, Kenneth Wilkerson; and her beloved dog, Weezy.
Judy is survived by her husband of 44 years, Larry P. Colgan; her children, Gary Wilkerson (Laurie), Shaun Wilkerson (Mary), and Shannon Wilkerson; her stepchildren, Larry Colgan, Jr. (Emily), Peggy White (David), Vickey Breen (Garrett), Lori Colgan (Julie), Melissa Ronquillo (Chris), and Kelley Kittell (Christopher); her sister, Jan Pisciotta (Phillip); her grandchildren, Adrienne Wilkerson, Claire Wilkerson, Megan Franks (Mark), Barrett White (Madeline), Cullen White, Adrian España, Gabrielle España, James Ronquillo (Corrin), Nicole R. Marinelli (Matthew), Jordan Ronquillo (Mary), Connor Kittell (Shaunna), Claire Kittell, Ginger Colgan, Ryan Colgan (Amanda), and Jacqueline C. Hoover (Ronnie); her step-grandson, Scott Burtle; and her great-grandchildren, James, Marin, Ariana, Maximus, Leo, Dominick, Lily, Marie-Louise, Maximus, and Maverick.
Judy was a proud alumna of Dominican High School. Her passion for her community led her to organizing the Elmwood Civic Association. She went on to be elected to serve on the Jefferson Parish School Board from 1999 to 2010 and holding the office of School Board President. Judy was also a member of the Louisiana Republican Women, actively participating in political and social discourse.
Judy’s greatest joy was her family. Hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners, Judy gathered family, friends and neighbors to a table that stretched through her living room well into the den of the home she designed personally.
She will be greatly missed by so many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, August 7, 2023 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM. The interment will follow the Mass at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
