Joyce Prats Price LeRoy passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on May 18, 2015 at her home in New Orleans with her children at her side. Beloved mother of Susan Price Geoghegan (A.D. III), Stephanie Price Forster (Jim Wetherington), Eddie Price III (Sally Levee), and Sydney Price Beaumont (Greg, Sr.); Devoted grandmother of Ashley Geoghegan (Shaun Carpenter), Koren Forster, Kendall Forster Dunn (Andrew), Kalli Forster (Alec Lundberg), Shawn Price Porte (Dustin), Sarah Price Lemoine (Seth), Shannon Price Casserta (Jay), Eddie Price IV, Samantha Price, Greer Beaumont, Greg Beaumont, Nick Lent, Brittany Beaumont Pearce (David), Jim Wetherington III (Michelle), Andrew Wetherington (Elicia) and Joshua Wetherington; Doting Great-grandmother of Cameron, Mason, Lily, Madeline, Luke, Jack, Noah, Abe, Lucy Kate, Alice, Levi, Naomi, Eve (JoJo), Aidan, Deke, Ava, Colt, Drew, Gunner, Oliver, Judy, Roger, Brianna, Nick, Kiara and Pierson. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Joyce Price Seal, Kate Vitari Prats, Betty Cadow Prats, Jean Gisevius Price, Judy Entwistle Prats and armfuls of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and loving care givers, Brandon Treadaway, Julie Diaz Carcamo, Emma Brown, Troy Thompson, Leslie Willis Zeringue and Janet Beard. Joyce was preceded in death by her husbands Edward J. Price Jr. (1946 - 1979) and Henry LeRoy (1986-2000), son Steven Anthony Price, grandson A. D. “Deke” Geoghegan IV, parents Sidney N. and Nola Lamare Prats, siblings Raymond S. Prats, Carol Prats Hemstreet and Norman Prats, and brothers-in-law Ralph, Charles A. and Robert D. Price. Not only was Joyce a stunningly beautiful woman on the outside, she was even more beautiful on the inside. She was the epitome of grace and courage. In spite of the numerous challenges she encountered during her lifetime, she never complained about the set-backs. She always saw the glass half full…although, admittedly, she preferred a glass full to the brim. Her family was her life and she spent her life safeguarding their safety and happiness. She was honest, generous, loving, graceful, brave, and compassionate. She instilled these virtues in her family. She gave of herself unselfishly and would do anything for anyone unless someone mistreated her family in which case she would defend unrelentingly by putting their names on the ‘refrigerator list’. Those who knew her well knew the consequences of being a member of that list. While many knew her as the wife of Tulane and New York Giants football legend Eddie Price, she was quite the athlete in her own regard. She was the star of her high-school basketball team at Sacred Heart and was an accomplished golfer. Her professional career included co-owning Eddie Price’s Restaurant on Broadway; being an administrative assistant with Prats Sheet Metal Corporation; and acting as a licensed team member at State Farm Insurance Companies. She was a member of the City Park Ladies Auxiliary Gulf Club and the Venetian Isles Garden Club and enjoyed the following in no particular order: doing anything with her family, spending time at the beach, playing cards (even with sore losers who would tear up the cards to prevent points from being counted…names withheld to protect the not-so-innocent), watching FOX news, watching the Saints or the Giants win, drinking a fine (or not so fine) glass of wine (or two), living, loving and laughing. The world is a better place for having had this beautiful woman in it. Life will not be the same without her. While we will miss having her physical presence in our lives, her spirit will live forever within everyone whose lives she touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Monday, May 25th at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service in the chapel officiated by the Reverend Robert D. “Bob” Massett. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
