Joyce Hauck Harris born on December 5, 1930 in New Orleans, LA passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024 at the age of 93. She was a lifelong resident of Harahan. She attended St. Mary’s Dominican High School and is a part of the 1947 graduating class. Following high school she received an associate’s degree from Delgado Community College. She was a parishioner of St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church for sixty-six years, CCRNO, and the St. Rita Church Adoration Chapel. Joyce was one of the founding members of Riverside Country Club and a member for many years. In her free time she enjoyed tennis, her children and grandchildren, sporting events, LSU, and LSU baseball. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband of thirty five years, Eugene “Buddy” Anthony Harris; parents, Henry and Elizabeth Hauck; son, Gerard Henry Harris; brother, Henry Edward Hauck, Jr.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann Harris; son-in-law, Ray Maquar. She is survived by her children, Theresa Harris Maquar, Diane Harris Palmer, Eugene Harris, Jr. (Mei), Stephen Harris (Lucienne), and Rodney Harris (Joilie); grandchildren, Katherine Daugherty (Michael), Rebecca Evans (Scott), Jonathan Maquar (Monique), Jay Maquar (Marie), Steven Maquar (Michael), Michelle Gall (Ryan), Eugene Harris, III (Candice), Martin “M.J.” Castillo, Stephen Harris, Jr. (Leslie), Jack Christman, Trevor Christman, Lucie Christman, Amelie Casadaban (Andrew), Brian Harris (Adelé), Gregory Harris (Katie), Rachel Kamlade (Ryan), Christopher Harris, John Palmer, Jr. (Tracy), Mary Palmer (Austin); great grandchildren, Alexis, Evan, Hailey, Connor, Liam, Hendrix, Layla, Sebastian, Charlotte, Juniper, Archie, Murphy, Grayson, Wesley, Kolbe, Lila, Riley; nieces, Brenda McConnell (Bob), Jayne McGee (Michael); nephews, Stanley Harris, Jr. (Susan), Brother Harold Harris, S.C. Family and friends are invited to attend services on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church, 7100 Jefferson Hwy Harahan, LA 70123. Visitation will being at 10:00AM followed by a Mass at 11:30AM. Interment will be at Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers please donate to St. Mary’s Dominican High School or masses are preferred.
