She was preceded in death by her parents, John Smyth and Annie Elizabeth Millar Smyth; husband, William Norman Connolly; three sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen Weisler, Margaret Saliba (Gabriel), and Sheila Eberts (Mark); four sisters; four brothers; grandchildren, William and Casey Weisler, Joseph and Alexandra Saliba, Carly, David, Emily, and Kristen Eberts; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Josephine was born and raised in Mosside, N. Ireland. She immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1953, where she worked as a bookkeeper for 2½ years. She returned to N. Ireland in 1955. Unable to settle down, she immigrated to Philadelphia, PA, in 1956. She found work, once again, as a bookkeeper. It was there that fate brought her back together with a childhood friend, Norman, at an Irish dance. They fell in love and married in 1959 and eventually settled in Metairie, LA, where they raised their family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and graveside services are private.
