Joseph J. Varuso, Jr. died in his home on May 7, 2015 at the age of 75.
Mr. Varuso was born on February 2, 1940 in New Orleans to his parents Mary and Joseph Varuso, Sr. and was a lifelong resident of Metairie.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Judy Varuso, who there by his side. He is also survived by his sons Paul Varuso and Rich Varuso; his grandsons Mason, Andrew and Josh; and his brother Jack Varuso.Mr. Varuso proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga from 1959 to 1963 and worked hard for the next 40 years, dedicating his life to provide for his family until he retired from Avondale Shipyards in 2002. Even when times were hard, he never complained, he just continued doing what was right by his family, even finding a way for his sons to attend Catholic schools.
Visitation will be held at Lake Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 12th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Funeral Mass at 12: 00 Noon. Arrangements entrusted to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
