Joseph G. Landrieu, Jr., 88, passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 12, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Loretta Bechtel Landrieu, and sons Stephen Landrieu and Scott Landrieu. He is survived by his spouse of 62 years, Phyllis Coldewy Landrieu; brother, former Mayor of New Orleans, Moon Landrieu (Verna); sons, Michael, Gary, David (Kim), Kenneth and Gregory (Harriet); daughters, Renee (Dave), Joanne Curren (John), Judy Klein (Mark), 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Landrieu, a Marine, graduated from Jesuit High School and Loyola University where he met the love of his life, his “Sunshine,” Phyllis. Mr. Landrieu was a longtime insurance agent and a member of the Million Dollar Round Table and The American College of Under Writers. He was the first Chair of the New Orleans Housing Authority and a founding board member of Liberty Bank in New Orleans. An avid outdoorsman and former owner of Crescent City Guns, “Paw Paw” spent countless hours teaching his children, nieces, nephews and numerous others to hunt, fish, boat and water ski. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 631 State St., New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 11:30am. Interment will follow at Carrolton Cemetery No. 1. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00am.
