John Edward Laughlin

John Edward Laughlin passed away on June 29, 2024 at 62 years of age. He was born on April 14, 1962 in New Orleans, LA. John graduated from Jesuit High School and Loyola University of New Orleans, and he worked as an analyst for Shell Oil Company for 36 years.

He was a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome Church. He was active in church parish ministries, was an adoration captain, and participated in CYO mission trips. He was involved in multiple organizations, including Knights of Columbus, SCR Men’s Club, Serra Club, Thoth Krewe, Cabrini and Dominican’s Dad’s Clubs, Jesuit Alumni Association, and TEC. He was a coach for CYO sports, a Parish School of Religion teacher, and an avid volunteer. He also found enjoyment in washing his cars.

He is preceded in death by his father, Andrew J Laughlin; grandparents, John and Adeline Clark and Edward and Lillian Laughlin; uncle, Harold “Sonny” Clark; and step-brother, Mark Aschebrock.

John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Theresa LeBon Laughlin; daughters, Christina Laughlin and Catherine Laughlin; mother, Linda Aschebrock and stepfather, Henry Aschebrock; brother, Chris Laughlin (Melissa); and step-sister, Wendy Aschebrock.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital and all those who kept him in constant prayer as he fought his cancer battle.

Relatives and friends are invited to the services on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at St. Clement of Rome Church. The visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the mass at 12:00 p.m., which will be officiated by Rev. Joseph Krafft. The interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
