John W. Gervais

Devoted husband of Sandra Blackburn Gervais.

Father of Michelle Gervais Brown (Danny) and Janine Gervais Lopez.

Grandfather of Brandon, Sarah, Danielle (Dez), Brooke, and Joshua.

Great grandfather of D.J. and Levi.

Brother of Horace Gervais, Jr. and the late Gertrude and Eddie.

Brother-in-law of Stephen, Dee, Sharon, Anita, and Linda.

John was born in New Orleans to Horace Gervais, Sr. and Marie LaCoste Gervais.

He was survived and loved by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, as well as his four-legged son, Izzy.

John retired from LP&L as an underground lineman, where he was known by his co-workers as “Munchkin”. He was a student of St. Theresa, Sacred Heart, and East Jefferson High School. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Lance Corporal. He was a member of the Canary & Finch Bird Club.

We have been blessed by the outpouring of stories of how many lives he touched.

A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
