John Thomas Devlin, 70, of Metairie, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 18th, 2015. He was the husband of Carmelite (Lee) Devlin for 47 years. He was born in New Orleans to James J. Devlin, Sr., and Annette Pitcher Devlin. John is survived by brothers James J. Devlin, Jr. (Verna), William F. Devlin, Robert A. Devlin (late Luca), and sister Annette D. Adams. He is further survived by brothers-in-law Norris Durand (Margaret) and A. Lee Adams. He is also survived by son Barry Taylor, grandson Corey “Sparky” Leonard, and Brett Leonard. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends also survive John.
The family would like to also mention close friends Noonie Guichet, Lee Couret, Timmy Valenti, Dexter Accardo, Tony Soto and O.J. Orgeron.
John was honorably discharged from the Louisiana National Guard. He retired from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant after 22 years of service, affectionately known as “Wolf.”
Visitation for John will be Friday January 23rd, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Ponchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana. Mass will start at noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
