John Bohlke, age 76, of New Orleans, LA, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, January 26, 2014 in Covington, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Iris Bohlke, his brother, Ted Bohlke and his loving wife, Mada Bohlke. He is survived by his longtime companion Gayle Boudousquie; his sister, Theresa Biggs of Tomball, TX; daughters, Peggy Verlander (Harry); Pamela Braud (David); Catherine Bohlke; Aimee Ward (John); Kate Bohlke; Avery MacLean (Manus); sons, Thomas Bohlke (Sherri); Michael Bohlke (Wendy); 24 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was a graduate of Holy Cross High School (New Orleans) and Tulane University with his earned degree from the School of Architecture. He practiced, won many awards and was a well known architect for over 50 years in New Orleans, specializing in historic reproductions.
He was also a member of Mensa International He loved to travel, read and was a founding member of “The Scrabbleers”, but his deep love and passion was spending time with his family and friends. This included numerous family trips to Florida, dining with Harry, Jr., and visits to his children and grandchildren. He was very close to his entire family and will be sadly missed.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2014, from 11am – 1pm, followed by a Catholic Mass, and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery. The services will be at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans.
