John Francis Bel, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at the age of 44. John was born on February 23, 1980, to Pamela Gay and John Francis Bel, Sr., in New Orleans, Louisiana. John was an alum of Archbishop Rummel High School (1998) and Loyola University (2002).
After graduating, John found his passion in hospitality, serving as bartender at Bridge Lounge, Executive Chef at Meauxbar, Chef at Cavan, and Banquet Chef at Virgin Hotel. In addition to finding a gift in the kitchen, John was known for his heart-felt and exceptional writing.
John will be remembered for his contagious laughter, vibrant spirit, plaid shirts, and amazing food.
He is survived by his partner of 23 years Sean Neary and his beloved Casper and Rizzo, parents Pamela Gay and John Francis Bel, Sr., sister Aimee B. Crimmins (David, Jr.), sister Ashley B. LeCompte (Lucas), nephew David III, niece Olivia, and aunt/godmother Barbara Mackenzie (Fraser). John Francis Bel, Jr. is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with visitation from 9:00am - 11:00am followed by Mass at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southern Animal Foundation, an organization John felt strongly about.
