I'm so sorry to hear this about John. I remember him being such a kind soul and genuine guy in our high school days. Gone far too soon. Rest in peace, old friend.

R.I.P Chef John from The Twins from Virgin

To know Chef was to love Chef. There was never a no, never an ask that wasn’t too great. He loved going beyond the usual and making our clients happy. I was proud and loud about the food Virgin Hotel offered because our chef was New Orleans bred and knew his food! I am grateful for every day I got to work with him the last year, but God knows there is a hole in my heart. There was no Tuesday BEO meeting without that laugh and no event without him. Chef had clients who returned and would specifically ask for his specials! One being it those cinnamon rolls from scratch, that were unmatched. I’d come down to “chat” but he knew what I was looking for. I am thankful he always saved me at least one! He will be missed beyond words by us all at Virgin New Orleans. I am forever grateful to know him and I will continue to find peace knowing he’s resting. My prayers go out to his family, friends, fur babies and colleagues! We all love and adore you so much. Get your rest Chef!

John was a truly wonderful person His unforgettable smile and memorable laugh brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Every moment spent in his presence was a reminder of the goodness in people. His positive spirit and uplifting personality made him not just a colleague, but a friend.
Working with you the past few years has been a pleasure, and this place will not be the same without you. You will truly be missed.

It's so hard to find the words.John this was truly TRULY a shock to all of us.To know that I will never hear that one of a kind laugh,meet with u to see what u need or see u running around with such dedication and passion getting the banquets events together really hurts but God knows u needed your rest! You were one of a kind in this Hotel and filling your shoes will be harddddd!! Sleep peacefully John and know that u will be forever missed by ALL those that knew u and truly loved u!

John Bel had the best laugh in the universe. Some of my favorite college memories are making him “honk” with laughter during classes.  And sometimes, if I was very lucky, he’d share his writing, which was gorgeous and hysterical, just like he was. 

Wishing everyone love during this time. And maybe we’ll learn to take comfort in a passing goose honking overhead.

I am so sorry for the loss of your son.  I never met him, but from what I read he was a true friend to many people!  Always remember the amount of people whose lives he touched and how they loved him!  Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was a classmate of John’s at Rummel. Though it’s been years since I last saw him, I remember him fondly from our time there.  He was a good-natured guy with an excellent sense of humor. I was always envious of his skill as a writer. My thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.

His laugh, his presence and just him in general will be me sadly missed in my family. Tell those that you love how you really feel. Tomorrow is not promised. To mr.and Mrs. Bel, I'm so sorry for loss.  Thank you for the laughs jonbel.

You looked out for me from day 1 at the Bridge Lounge and we became fast friends. As a leader always patient and fair. As my friend always supportive and an amazing listener.
