Jennifer Lynn de St. Germain was born to Darlene de St. Germain in Metairie, Louisiana at East Jefferson Hospital on September 6, 1984. She weighed 5 pounds 8 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long, birth time 5:49PM. She had a head full of black hair and beautiful blue eyes. Jennifer was raised in Louisiana. She was baptized a catholic at St. Clement of Rome Church in Metairie, Louisiana on December 2, 1984. Her Godfather is Donald Rhodes and Godmother is JoAnn Rhodes. Alberto Poveda (her father) came into her life in November 1985. Wayne Hammond (her stepfather) came into her life in September 2008.
Jennifer was blessed with one child, a daughter. She gave birth to Isabella Marie Irula on May 7, 2004 in Metairie, Louisiana at East Jefferson Hospital. She started dating her Fiance Riedell Jacobson on March 29, 2013. She was 11 weeks pregnant on her death date with their son Riedell Jacobson, Jr.
She attended school at Alice Birney Elementary, Leon Godchaux Junior High and East St. John High school. She was the Mardi Gras Ball Queen at Leon Godchaux Junior High and was on the Homecoming court at East St. John High School.
Jennifer loved children. You would have never known that she had one child, because she was always taking care of someones child or children. She was so excited about the new baby that she was carrying, we all were. She loved her family and friends very dearly. She was definitely the glue in the family that kept everyone together.
Jennifer was a lover of animals and cherished her pets. Jennifer’s favorite pets were Daffy/Duck, Pup/mixed lab, Lucky/Dalmatian, Sheba Marie/black lab, Belle/Mini chihuahua, Nala/mini chihuahua and Sadie/catahoula.
She was such a loving and caring person. Would do anything and everything for whoever needed her. Would take in anyone and any animals that needed a home. Always able to express herself well, Jennifer possessed strong interpersonal skills. She was optimistic in her outlook on life and was able at all times to be open and direct in her communication. Armed with a great wit, Jennifer was raised to be accepting of others and to implement a strong personal work ethic. She was a very hard worker and a very smart girl.
Friends and acquaintances found Jennifer an easy woman to get to know, and those close to her would often praise her open, practical style of communication and relaxed approach to life in general. Jennifer was uncomplicated and straightforward in her relationships, which allowed her to accept people for what they were.
Jennifer enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. She had something of an artistic flair in many of the things that she did. She put this creativity toward all of her pastimes. Her favorite pursuits were any kind of Crafting and she loved making things with her vinyl machine . She was content to enjoy her hobbies alone but was also willing to share her interests with others. Jennifer attended dancing school at Martha Mayer school of dance. Jennifer's favorite place to go on vacation was the beach.
Jennifer also loved shopping, crawfishing, crabbing, shrimping and fishing in her spare time.
Jennifer passed away at age 32 on June 17, 2017 at 6:00 am in West Monroe, Louisiana from a rare heart condition, Spontaneous dissection of the coronary artery. She is survived by her fiance Riedell Jacobson, her daughter Isabella Irula, her mother Darlene Hammond and husband Wayne, her father Alberto Poveda, her brother Alberto "AL" Poveda Jr., Sisters Andee and Alexxa Melgar, her grandparents Linda & Noel de St. Germain and plenty of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces ,nephews and friends. She proceeded in death by her baby boy, Riedell Jacobson, Jr., her aunt, Dawn Ann de St. Germain, her brother, Justin Melgar and her great grandparents. Services were held at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana on June 24, 2017 from 1-4 PM. In the chapel Rev. Jack Boudreaux officiated her services. Jennifer and baby Riedell were cremated and is now surrounded by all their loved ones.
Jennifer was the kind of person who could win others over easily. She was always able to provide amusing repartee to her friends and acquaintances, offering a seemingly endless supply of jokes and stories. She enjoyed her life and the experience of living it.
