Jason Philip Franco of River Ridge, passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2024. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Emily Morehiser Franco, children, Benjamin and Tibbetts, parents, Philip Franco (Rhonda) and Claudia Milazzo Tibbetts (Dave), and sister, Kristin Adams (Alton), and so, so many other family members.
Jason was born on September 15, 1980 to Phil and Claudia in New Orleans. He attended St. Pius X, Christian Brothers and Jesuit High School, then went on to study Marketing at LSU. He obtained a JD from Loyola Law and practiced as an attorney for the past 19 years. But he was most himself on a different court, playing basketball with his fellow “aspiring amateur athletes” in OTMAC.
After years of friendship and dating, Jason gave Emily the vowel at the end of her name that she had always wanted. They had two beautiful children, Benjamin Philip (12) and Tibbetts Marie (5) and more recently adopted two rescue kittens, Cousin and Chef. While Jason claimed he was tricked into getting them, it was obvious he was smitten. Be it, the one he was born into or the one he chose, Jason was a devoted family man and a friend to all.
He spent zillions of hours bringing Ben to and from playgrounds and gyms for baseball, basketball, football and more. He never tired of watching his son play and cherished their shared love of the game(s). With Tibbi, he was always drawing, reading and tickle fighting. The two had a mutual penchant for silliness and mischief. Something the whole family enjoyed together was the beach. Some of their best memories were made in the waves and on the sand in Destin, Florida. It was a happy place and will continue to be in years ahead.
A gregarious host, always ready with a fresh plate, glass or quip, Jason loved a good story, especially one made for TV. When he wasn’t watching TV, he was talking about TV, making lists about TV or relentlessly pressuring people to watch the shows on his lists. He knew what he liked and wanted to share it. In his life, as well as his personal style, Jason brought intention and a desire to continually evolve. When faced with the red light of his loss, he would want us to look for a green light.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the services at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Boulevard in New Orleans, on Monday, May 6, 2024. A visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 11:00AM, with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.org), an organization that Jason became involved with at Jesuit and continued with all through law school. His summers at Camp Sunshine were some of his favorites.
