James Douglas Anderson

New Orleans’ son James Douglas Anderson (“Pops”) passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. James was a natural born storyteller and writer. His lifetime of stories will be retold by his “angel” of a wife for nearly 60 years, Penny Bourg Anderson, his “good” son, Dr. Derek James Anderson, his “interesting” daughter, Dana Anderson Johann, his “twin” sister, Edna, his “beautiful” sister, Doris, his “other family” the D’Antonis, and by his lifelong best friend, his “brother from another mother,” Paul Fernandez. An incredible self-taught cook, James’ one-of-a-kind recipes will live on through his “God sent” daughter-in-law Mary S. Anderson, his “very brave” son-in-law Dave Johann, and by “the best thing to ever happen” to James - his beloved grandchildren, Alex and Ashlyn Anderson. Services will be private. In honor of James’ treasured pups Nicky, Wonton, Dixie and numerous grand-dogs, donations may be made to Ascension Parish’s Cara’s House Animal Shelter.
