Jack R. Schega, Jr.

Jack R. Schega, Jr., age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Born December 13, 1923 in New Orleans to the late Noemi Torre and Jack R. Schega, Sr., Jack is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Louise O’Boyle and Shirley Schega (infant). Jack is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Victoria Ragusa Schega; his daughter, Jacquelyn Schega Hope (Bill); sons, Robert C. Schega (Debra) and Richard A. Schega (Jean); his grandchildren, Lori Ann Fernandez (Matt), Brian M. Hope (Kristi), Richard A. Schega Jr.(Amy), Sherrie Lynn Hope and Travis M. Schega (Maggie); his 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the proprietor of Vieux Carre Candle Shop, Carpet Craftsman, and Renovated Apartments. His civic duty included President of Gentilly Improvement Association and Civil Defense in the 60’s and honorably served his country during WWII in the USMC and past Post Commander American Legion Post 195. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until service time. Interment to follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
