Jack Baker Jones, Jr., veteran of the U.S. Marines (1967-1977) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 19,2022 at the age of 74. He was born on March 22,1948 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Eunice C. Hosli Jones of D’Iberville, MS and Jack Baker Jones, Sr. of Clearwater, Kansas. He was a graduate of the Air Force Academy High School. He served his country in Vietnam in 67-69 and again in 73-74. Following his military career, he worked for and retired from the Department of Defense. He was a member of the American Legion, the Order of the Purple Hearts, and the Dads Club at Cabrini High School. He coached little league baseball and acted as scout leader of Troop 172. He was president of Forgotten Warriors organization. He was an enthusiast for Harley Davidson motorcycles. Many who knew him playfully referred to him as “Prozac Jack” and would agree that he was a truly interesting man and led a fascinating life.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lillian Cecile “Cissy” Krohn.
He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Judy Costa Jones; his daughter, Andrea Jones Codina; his sons, Victor Sean Jones (Nicole) and Jeremy Costa Jones (Jessie); his brother, Stanley Jones (Angie); his grandchildren, Andrew, Max, and Jasper Jones; and his nephew, Corey Krohn (Gabby); his in-laws Victor and Antoinette Costa, Karen and Tommy Kirkley, Michelle and Joe Tarravella; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give their special thanks to all of Jack’s caregivers at the VA Hospital and the Community Living Center.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday, November 2,2022 beginning at 11:00am followed by a Memorial Mass at 1:00pm. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
