Jack Antin Hudson, age 94, died peacefully on November 25, 2022, surrounded by his family. Jack was born October 21, 1928, in New Orleans to Walter and Rose (Antin) Hudson. He graduated from Georgia Military Academy in 1948, and then attended Loyola University where he earned his DDS, graduating in 1952. Jack served 2 years in the Air Force, including one year in Korea, before returning to New Orleans to his young family. He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the USAF in 1972.
Jack lived a life full of love, passion, and honor. His pride and love for his wife, Grace (Debrovner) Hudson (of blessed memory), and three daughters was evident in every conversation he had. He was quite proud of Grace’s volunteer and community activism, even though he had accomplishments of his own. He served many years on the board of Gates of Prayer and had a longstanding commitment to the Jewish Federation. He was a Chairman of the Dental Department at Touro, and was honored for serving 50 years on their medical staff.
Jack’s passions included sailing, tennis, traveling, and volunteering weekly at the Touro Information desk and the WWII Museum. Jack’s professional and personal success was self made. He tried to enlist in the military before graduating dental school because he had no other means to support his young family. He had no family support and came home from Korea to a small dental office Grace had rented for him in the Madison Blanche building. From there he became one of the most successful dentists in New Orleans, always staying ahead of the latest technology and techniques that would benefit his patients.
He met Grace when she was a freshman at Newcombe and by the time she was 20, they were married with one young daughter. They remained in their very happy marriage for 52 years till she died. Jack found love again with Sybil Kline who he remained devoted to for 14 years.
Jack was a beloved husband, father, friend, and adored PapaJack to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his incredible achievements in life but most importantly he will be remembered for his warm smile and kind heart. He will be missed by all who were lucky to know him. He is survived by his daughters, Lynne Singerman (Jerry, of blessed memory); Nancy Kaplan (Neal); Allison Mollner (Greg); his grandchildren, Aaron Singerman (Darielle); Tracey Golden (Brian); Laura Hamblin (Matt); Dayna Galloway (Ben); Mark Kaplan (Lindsay); Sarah Mollner, Jennifer Mollner, Jackie Baldeschi (Luca); as well as his great grandchildren, Asher, Aaden, and Alijah Singerman; Parker Golden; Logan Galloway; Henry and Winifred Hamblin; Emmy, Reid, and Sawyer Kaplan; and Sebastian Baldeschi. He is also survived by his devoted sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Gene Glick.
The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care and compassion provided Jack by the entire staff at Lambeth House and Guardian Angel Hospice in the last weeks of his life as well as his physician, Dr. Charles Smith, III.
