Herman Wilfred Simmons, Jr., age 83, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Son of the late Herman Wilfred Simmons and Mildred B. Simmons Treadaway. Beloved husband for 56 years of Lynn Lorenz Simmons. Loving father of Rhonda S. Hall (Terrell), Susan S. Schott (Mark), Dr. Michael J. Simmons (Mary), Karen S. Lott (Timothy) and the late Stephen M. Simmons. Grandfather of Jennifer Hall Gaubert (Ryan); Rachel, Jeffrey, Emily and Claire Schott; Stephen and Sarah Simmons; Mallory, Courtney and Lindsey Lott. Brother of Leonard Simmons.
Herman was a former employee of Stratton Baldwin Co. for 36 years and retired from Orgill Brothers. He was an alumnus of Samuel J. Peters High School and member of AARP Chapter 4417. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. Donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. .
