He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Doretta Weideman Steib; six siblings; Joey, Teddy, Evelyn, George, Jules, and Charles; and granddaughter, Michelle Levine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Joyce Ann Walter Steib; children, Henry Steib, Jr. (Tracey), Danny Steib (Cindy), Marion Levine (Bob) and Terri Puglia; grandchildren, Martin Steib (Jordan), Robert Levine, Casie Banquer (Jeff), Nina Puglia L’Hoste, Chris Levine, Megan Cleighton (Tim), Brandon Steib, and Danielle Steib; great grandchildren, Gavin, Grace, Perrin, Zoey, Preston, Jaxon, and Brandon, Jr., brother in-law, Martin Walter (Jackie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Henry, better known as “Pop”, served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from the New Orleans Police Department after 20 years of service. After serving in law enforcement, he was a fleet manager for 18 years at Mossy Oldsmobile. He was a devoted husband of 64 years, and loved nothing more than spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were the apple of his eye.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial mass at 1:00 p.m. on June 21, 2018 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and a graveside inurnment will follow the mass at Lafayette Cemetery #1 in New Orleans.
