Gloria Kay Halbert, 84 years of age, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022. Kay was the beloved wife of Elliott Halbert and the daughter of the late Carl and Icy Anstead. She was the beloved mother of Stephen Halbert, Barry Halbert (Jenny) and Julie Halbert Hover (Kenny). She was grandmother to Paige and Matthew Cohn; Amanda Hullum (Josh), Rebecca and Luke Halbert; and Lacey Sims and Jessica Oetter (Simon). Great-grandmother of three: Jacob, Timothy, and James. She was the sister of two deceased brothers, Carl Zane and Ray Anstead, and two deceased sisters, Nell Oates and Ann Cohn.
Kay was retired from the Jefferson Parish School System doing most of her teaching at Bissonet Plaza Elementary School in Metairie, LA.
Visitation will begin on Monday, February 14, 2022 at 9:30 at St. Ann Church and National Shrine, 3601 Transcontinental Dr. Metairie, LA 70006. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow beginning at 10:30. Interment will be private.
