Gerald “Mac” J. Martinez passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79. He was born in Chackbay, Louisiana to the late Whitney and Olympe Martinez.
Mac is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Josephine “Jo” Martinez; children Lisa Burns (late William) and Eric Martinez (Catherine); grandchildren Morgan and Paige Burns; Lelle, Justin and Miles Martinez; siblings Sylvia M. Hymel (late Shelby), Dennis Martinez (late Kay), Eldred M. Durocher ( late Nelson) and Charles Martinez ( late Janice) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Mac opened and operated the first Subway in New Orleans located in Old Metairie for 31 years until his retirement. He was an avid gardener.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 2:00pm. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until service time. Interment will be private.
