So sorry to hear of the passing of George.  It has been many years since I lived and worked in NOLA.  But I remember many many visits to Mr. Gyros and all the wonderful food.  May your family find comfort in knowing you are now watching over them from heaven.

To my sweet and super generous friend for so many years, I am so sad to see you go.  You will be missed by all.  You were a great boss, better friend and always smiling.  You are missed so much by the Tennessee/NOLA girl.

Smile on us from heaven above.  That smile will make its way to the hearts of those of us you left behind.

George, it's been many years since we have seen each other but I have such fond memories of you.  I still have the bottle that held the unfiltered olive oil you brought back from Greece and the little curio case sits on my dresser.  You were such a kind and thoughtful soul.  I'm so sad to hear of your passing.  We were blessed to have your joy and laughter for 47 years.  You will be missed greatly by many.

To a beloved and forever cherished longtime friend whom shall surely be missed by many here and beyond.  We are forever grateful for having known you and always making us laugh with each and every visit while always sharing a wonderful meal with our family. George was my student at UNO in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism. Our family got to know him well since we all loved to visit Mr. Gyros to see George.  He was a wonderful, caring person and a gracious host. Our sincere condolences from the faculty and staff at the School of HRT at UNO.  We will miss him dearly!!!

We are so sad for those who mourn George's passing.  He was a kind and giving soul, always happy to see an old friend stopping by for lunch after years of absence from the city.  We remember fondly those fun days after UNO and the remarkable folks, both friends and family, who George so kindly included in our lives, and whose hearts ache today.  We pray for solace for all in our mutual loss and for his soul.

George, I love you and my heart is broken  you will be in my heart until we meet again. the heavens are smiling because you're there.

I started working for George soon after I lost my father (another Greek named George, go figure).  He was always kind and loving (except to Sakis - who fired me every day - so George had to fuss at him and hire me back lol).  That was more than 15 years ago and we've stayed friends.  When I was away at college, no visit home was complete until I got to see George. Since I've lived back in Louisiana I've gone to Mr. Gyros for dinner on my birthdays, and he always specially prepared tarama for me - even though it hasn't been on the menu in years - and brought it out with a candle in it.  He was a wonderful presence in my life, and I can't believe he's gone.  I'll miss him very much.

So sorry to hear of George's passing.  He was a fine gentleman who always took the time to make you feel welcome.  He will be missed.

I was deeply saddened to hear of George's passing away. George was such a kind, refined gentleman and friend to all who knew him. I had the honor of being his mathematics professor. After the semester was over, we continued being in touch and whenever my spouse and I traveled back to New Orleans, we never missed visiting with George at the restaurant. He was a model student and an exceptional individual. A very special person, I consider myself so fortunate to have known.

George, I am very surprised and saddened to hear that you have passed. For over half of my life, "going to George's" has been one of the most comforting phrases for me to hear. We would go to your restaurant where you were always kind, generous, and accommodating.  I have so many warm memories of wonderful food with my closest friends there.  Thank you "Mr. Gyro"

George you have left us unexpectedly early my friend.  I was fortunate to be your roommate during probably one of the best periods of our lives, college years. There are so many unforgettable memories to think and smile about.  You have been one of the most generous people I have met in my entire life.  George, thank you for sharing those priceless years with me.  My thoughts and my heart are with your beautiful parents Mrs. Tasia and Mr. Yiannis, your brother Bill and his family and your cousin Peter and his family.  RIP till we meet again.

My brother George. What can I say? You leave a void in my heart. Life will not be the same with out you. Even though you only met me through your brother you took me in and made me feel like part of the family. We will all miss your smile and the cheer (no pun intended) that you brought to the table. You touched us all in such a way. People say that God wants to be surrounded by good people and that's why he take good people near him at such a young age. I am sure heaven will be a better place now, however you have left a huge void.

Where do begin to say how lucky I am to say that I have known you like no other.  My best friend, lover and husband: you where so many things to me.  You had a heart that was giving and loving.  Just to look at you with that smile, would make my bad day into a good one.  That smile, I will miss that smile.  You were so open to many things.  You loved poetry and I remember how you would leave me notes for me to read about what you were thinking and feeling at the time.  You had many gifts that you taught me and shared with me. And although there is a void in me that will never be replaced, I thank God that you are in peace.  Heaven is a better place now that you are in it.
