George will be remembered as a kind and charming gentleman. He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and survived the Great Depression. During World War II, George served in the U.S. Navy and soon after married the love of his life, Shirley Haro Heintz in 1947. He and Shirley raised their children, Robert and Julia, with an abundance of love and support. George retired in 1984 from Southern Bell after more than 40 years of employment. He was a long time member and Past Master of Metairie Lodge 444, a 32nd Degree Mason, Knights Commander Court of Honor (Scottish Rite), and a member of the Jerusalem Temple Shrine, GNO High Twelve Club, and the Telephone Pioneers of America. George spent his last years in Houston to be closer to his son and daughter and their families.
We are all grateful for the life and love he shared with us and the example he provided of a kind, honest, elegant, caring, humble, and generous person with a wonderful sense of humor. His children were blessed to have a father with who was so devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, and whose life personified love, integrity, and compassion.
