Mr. Gene S. Palmisano

Jesuit High School graduate, class of 1950, attended Notre Dame Seminary with plans to become a Jesuit priest, but found his calling in law. Graduated with a Jurist Doctrine from Loyola Law School, where he was a member of the winning team of Regional Moot Court Competition, 1956. Following his career working as a litigator in the US Attorney Office working on landmark cases, including U.S. v. Hubert Geroid Brown, and investigations pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he also worked for Exxon Corp. as lead litigator in Louisiana, creating case law for the Jones Act. Mr. Palmisano was a proud member of “the Iggys,” a group of lifelong friends who attended Jesuit High School, Loyola University and Loyola Law School. He was a ticket holder of the New Orleans Opera for over thirty years: he listened to and taped the Metropolitan Opera every Saturday. He was also a devout sports enthusiast: loved his Saints and LSU Tigers.

Son of the late Salvador Eugene and Marguerite Himel Palmisano. He is survived by his daughter, Eugenie Palmisano Rodrigue, (Melvin J. Jr.) and his son, Salvador Eugene Palmisano III. And by his stepchildren: Noel Young, (Claudia), Anne Young Queyrouze, (Steven). Granddaddy to Caroline, Christian, Ashton, Devin, Savanah, Amelie, Peyton, Eugenie, Natalie and Adelaide. Family and friends are invited to visitation Wednesday, 6 to 9 pm. Thursday 9-11am visitation with Mass to follow at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Interment to follow at Hope Mausoleum, 4841 Canal St.
