Gayle G. Boone entered peaceful rest on Sunday, August 20, 2017. Beloved wife for 49 years of Wayne D. Boone; loving mother of Jeffrey D. Boone (Stacey), Jennifer B. Duhé (Tad), and Jessica B. Farmer (Elmer); grandmother of Jeffrey, Jace, and Joshua Boone, Cole and Cade Duhé, and Nathan and Ethan Farmer. Gayle is also survived by a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gertrude Flick Giebel, and her sister, Vickie Ann Giebel.
Gayle was born and raised in New Orleans. She lived in Gretna for the majority of her adult life most recently residing in Covington, Louisiana. She graduated from Tulane University with an Associate of Arts degree followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was employed with the Federal Government for 30 years beginning with the Navy Recruiting Command, Army Recruiting Command, Military Traffic Mangement Command and as Chief of Logistics Management Office with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for over 20 of those years. She received numerous performance, cash, and honorary awards including the Superior Civilian Service Award and Achievement Medal for Civilian Service. Her career at the New Orleans District included two tours overseas, June 2003 thru November 2003 in Kuwait and May 2004 thru October 2004 in Baghdad. Upon returning she was presented the Commander's Award for Civilian Service for her outstanding achievements in Operations Iraqi Freedom.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Monday, August 28, 2017 at 1:00PM.
