Frank Michael Bordelon, 81, of New Orleans, passed away on March 2, 2023 with his wife by his side after a lengthy journey with Alzheimer's. He was born in New Orleans and a proud graduate of Jesuit High School class of 1959. He went on to attend Tulane University and graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering. At Tulane, he met Linda and on their second date, told her he would marry her. They have been married for 58 years.
Frank was hired by Westinghouse Electric in Pennsylvania and had a long, successful career. He started in nuclear safety and soon after won a prestigious Lamme Award for Advanced Studies. He obtained a second Masters in Engineering from Stanford University, then an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. He retired as the Managing Director of Process Control Division for Europe.
Upon returning to New Orleans, he worked as the Research Director for the College of Engineering at the University of New Orleans. After his second retirement, he became active in the Jefferson Genealogy Club, volunteered at EJGH, participated in the Metairie Health Care pet therapy program, and coordinated the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering fair. He was a devout member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, active in the Jesuit Alumni Association and a Eucharistic Minister for 40 years serving the Archdiocese of New Orleans, Archdiocese of Greensburg PA, and Warsaw, Poland.
Frank loved to learn, cook, travel, drive convertibles, and was the king of Dad Jokes. He was a wonderful person, husband and father. The impact of his loss will forever be felt by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda, children; Michelle Rigney (John), Adrienne Ogles (Eric), Michael Bordelon (Funmi); grandchildren Rachel, Clark, Matthew and Solomon; and brother Leon (Judy).
He will be missed by his pets Zeni and Gizmo, his partners in pet therapy.
The family is especially thankful for his devoted caretaker, Iona Smith, our angel hospice nurse, Angelis, and the nurses and therapy staff at Inspired Living.
Services will be held Saturday, March 11th, 2023 at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave. in Metairie, Louisiana, with visitation from 10:30am - 12:00pm followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00pm. Interment will be in Hope Mausoleum.
