Felix Figueroa is survived by his wife of 49 years, Yolanda Cardoza Figueroa; son, Felix Figueroa II (Alison), daughters Maria Figueroa Rose (Randy), Tanya Figueroa Scott (Jonathan), and Carolina Figueroa Morris (Michael Morris). And grandchildren Catherine Figueroa Gibson, Felix Figueroa III, Erin Rose, Mallory Meinhardt, Alexis Figueroa, Nicholas Figueroa, Abbey Figueroa, Ashton Rowells, and Sofia Morris; and previous wife, Ruth Figueroa. He is preceded in death by his father, Justo Figueroa, mother, Justina Figueroa, and 7 brothers and 3 sisters.
Felix Figueroa was born on January 04, 1934, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, to Justo and Justina Figueroa. After moving to New Orleans, LA, Felix began working for Canal Villere for 25 years, King Cotton for 10 years, and successfully opened the doors to his own business, F&F Inc. in 1983.
Felix Figueroa co-founded the Spanish American Business Association (SABA) and founded UNETE – philanthropic organizations that gave back to the Hispanic community both locally and in Central America. He was also an active and dedicated participant in Mardi Gras with the Krewe of Freret, Krewe of Mercury, Carnival in La Ceiba, Honduras, and the Lions Club International. Felix enjoyed traveling worldwide, fishing with family and friends, dancing, social events, and watching any and all sports events – especially football.
His children will remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, and driven father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He will be forever remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Felix Figueroa’s life. The family would like to thank Family Home Care and Compassus Hospice for their efforts, care, and dedication.
