Mrs Elizabeth "Betsy" Lonergan

Elizabeth “Betsy” Watkins Lonergan, loving wife and mother, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. She was born on November 19, 1934, in Houma, Louisiana to Judge and Mrs. J. Louis Watkins. Betsy attended St. Francis de Sales School in Houma and Dominican College in New Orleans.

Betsy is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 44 years Maurice “Moe” Lonergan, Jr.; her sons, Timothy Shane and Thomas Joseph Lonergan; and daughter-in-law, Eileen Haines Lonergan; her sister, Catherine Watkins; her brother Judge J. Louis Watkins, Jr. and wife Shirley Rome Watkins; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Kornovich.

She is survived by her loving children Dr. Maurice Lonergan, III (Paula), Dr. Patrick Lonergan (Cheryl), Margaret “Peggy” Primes, Elizabeth “Pebbles” Lonergan, Nancy Weir (Jim), Sally Uzee (Pete), and Susan Lonergan. Betsy is also survived by her grandchildren Christie Weir, Casey Lonergan, Marcie Weir, Patrick “PJ” Lonergan (Rachel), Carly Lonergan, Molly Lonergan, Benjamin Primes, Elizabeth “Betsy” Primes, Timothy Primes, Abigail “Abby” Weir and Katherine “Katy” Weir; her sister Florence Kornovich; her brother Kenneth Watkins (Sherry); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Avenue. Interment will follow in St. Louis #3 Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
