Eleanora Franco Kennedy, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020. She was born and raised in New Orleans, LA where she graduated from St. Joseph Academy, and shortly after got married and raised her 5 children. She was a member of the Elenian Club and served as Queen in 1951. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and served as a substitute teacher and later became a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church. In the early 1990’s she moved to Slidell, LA and began working at Schneider Paper Products. After 10 years of dedicated service at SPP, she retired so she could devote her time to her loving children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rose D’Antoni and Anthony Joseph Bologna; husband, George Franco, Sr.; second husband, John Kennedy; brother, Antonio Bologna. She is survived by her only daughter, Lucia Schneider (Michael); 4 sons, Philip Franco (Rhonda Chapman), George Franco, Jr. (Linda), Michael Franco (Mignon), David Franco (Cindy); sister, Mary Jane Ciaccio; 17 grandchildren, Jason, Kristin, Jennifer, Ashley, Michael, Christopher, Jeffrey, Michelle, Nicholas, Brittani, Ashlyn, Anthony, Madelyn, Olivia, Alicia, Kaitlin, and Sophia; 18 great- grandchildren; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, including her dear sisters-in-law, Anna Bologna and Anita Lee and devoted friend, Angie Donzie-Cardarella. She was a very strong, loving, and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her sweet personality and positive attitude were a blessing to all who knew her. Her family was her pride and joy, leaving many wonderful memories to cherish forever. Throughout her years of various illnesses she never complained. The family would like to especially thank the administration, nurses, and CNAs of Lacombe Nursing Center for their love, patience, and compassion for Ellie.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11:00AM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 10:00AM. The interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
