

Elaine Patin Schulze, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, formerly of New Orleans, passed away on December 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph Patin and Marie Birdie Dupuis Patin Broussard and her brothers John A. Patin, James Fred Patin and Robert K. Patin.
In 1949 she married Hermann John Schulze, who predeceased her in 1971. She is survived by her six children: Elaine Schulze Skurnick (Ira), Hermann John Schulze, Jr. (Darlene), Ann Gretchen Fontenot (Mitchell), Diane Mary Davis (Mark), Richard Rudolph Schulze (Mary Ann) and Rudolph Franz Schulze (Tanya); nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great joy. She is lovingly remembered for her warmth and kindness - she was the very heart of her family.
Born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, Elaine completed her undergraduate studies at SLI (now ULL) and her graduate studies in Social Work at Simmons University in Boston. Her career included work with the American Red Cross during WWII, and disaster services following the war. She retired from a rewarding career as a Medical Social Worker at LSU Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in 1984.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 1228 S Carrollton Ave, New Orleans, LA on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will begin at 1:30 pm at the Church immediately followed by interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum, New Orleans, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Foundation, preferred.
