Edward M. Rowley, Jr. passed away on April 17, 2023 at the age of 80, surrounded by family. He was born in New Orleans on April 6, 1943 to the late Edward M. Rowley, Sr. and Lucille Nicaud Rowley. Ed grew up in Uptown New Orleans as one of six children and spent summers in Waveland, MS. He graduated from Canterbury School in New Milford, CT, where he excelled in swimming. After attending Tulane and Florida State, he served in the Louisiana Air National Guard. He was President and Owner of Southern Marine, a boat dealership, and served as President of the Better Boating Association of Greater New Orleans. Ed and his wife, Judy, relocated their family to Mandeville, where they spent 45 years and raised their five children. He was President of the Parish Council and School Board at Our Lady of the Lake, and received the Order of St. Louis award from the Archdiocese of New Orleans for his service. For the past 34 years, Ed was a commercial realtor with Wagner & Truax. In 2020 he and Judy relocated to the South Shore to be closer to family. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed beach vacations each summer with his children, and later on with his grandchildren. He loved cooking and reading, and is remembered for his sense of humor and generous nature. He is survived by his wife Judith G. Rowley; siblings Carolyn Morelock (John), Helene Giles, Ann Commagere (James), Missy Bougere (Alan) and George (Beryl); and children Renee (Kenneth), Edward, III (Laura), Eric (Alaina), Cissy and Charles. He was “Pere” to his nine awesome grandchildren. Visitation will be held at St. Catherine of Siena, 105 Bonnabel Blvd., Metairie on May 15th from 10:30-11:45am, Words of Remembrance at 11:45am and Mass at 12:00pm. A private inurment will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery.
