Edward N. Ameen, age 77, was called by our heavenly Father on April 23, 2024 at the home he shared with his loving wife, Carolyn Treuting Ameen, in Kenner, LA. Beloved father of Jason Edward Ameen (Kelly White Ameen) and Tiffany Mathis Ameen (Eric Maida); adoring grandfather (“Giddo”) of Ford Edward Ameen and Tennyson Hayes Maida. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Nabih Ameen and Nadia Joseph Ameen.
Ed’s strong entrepreneurial spirit began in early childhood. He was owner of Edberg Jewelry, Inc. and, previously, owner of Management Recruiters of New Orleans, Inc.
Ed was a man of great faith. He led youth choirs in Montgomery, AL and surrounding areas. He attended Huntington College on a ministerial scholarship. He led a life of service to God, family, friends, and to anyone in need.
He was an expert poker player (winning two world poker tour tournaments), avid golfer, tennis player, and jokester. He was a dedicated Saints and Pelicans fan. His sense of humor delighted others and carried him through hard times. He was a “bird of rare plumage” (a favorite saying).
The family would like to give special thanks to Drs. J. Kevin Russ, Robert Veith, John Bolton, Jonathan Mizrahi, and to St. Catherine’s Hospice for all their loving care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124 on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 12:00 PM; with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place in Metairie Cemetery.
