

Dr. Edmond J. Ganucheau, Jr. DDS age 77 entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, after suffering a stroke and a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Paulette Guidroz Ganucheau, his four children, Edmond J. (Sherri), Alan M. (Dana), Byron C. (Cathy) and Paul E. (Rochelle), and three stepchildren, Jamie R. Moore (Eric), Kate R. DeVille (Thomas), and Brian H. Rohm (Caroline). He leaves behind his siblings, the Honorable Richard J. Ganucheau of New Orleans and Melanie G. Behrens of Manhattan Beach, CA. He is predeceased by his first wife, Janet Rovira Ganucheau; a son, Darryl A. Ganucheau; parents, Edmond J. Ganucheau, Sr. and Grace Arnoult Ganucheau; and his sister, Anne Marie Fries. He leaves behind fourteen grandchildren, sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be remembered by his relatives and friends as a particularly compassionate, caring, generous, and honest person. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dr. Ganucheau has resided in Metairie for the past fifty years. He graduated from Jesuit High School of New Orleans in 1954 and Loyola University School of Dentistry in New Orleans, LA in 1960. He was an Eagle Scout and a 3rd Degree Knight of Columbus. He was a member of the New Orleans Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association, American Dental Association, Pierre Fauchaud Academy, Fellow of the International College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry and a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Church. Dr. Ganucheau practiced dentistry for forty-three years in Metairie and retired in 2003.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home (3827 Canal Street, NOLA 70124) on Monday, May 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A Mass will be held in the Chapel at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. with burial following at St. Louis Cemetary III. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and staff who served Dr. Ganucheau over the past 10 years, and especially for the excellent care and services rendered by Denise, Rochelle, and Lea Anne of Personal Home Care Service.
