Edgar William Casey was born in New Orleans on January 27, 1942 and passed away unexpectedly on May 19, 2021 at the age of 79. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Thomas James and Josephine Larrieu Casey and three older brothers, Ronald T. Casey, Leonard I. Casey, and Thomas J. Casey.
Following the early death of his parents, he was blessed with a special aunt, Katherine Casey Irwin, and cousin, May Louise Irwin, who aided in his upbringing and formed him in the faith. This formation in the Catholic faith would carry him through his life.
Edgar attended De La Salle High School, Spring Hill College, and Loyola Law School. He joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country in Vietnam.
He was vice-president of Continental Savings and Loan, then President of Elmwood Federal Savings and Loan. After twenty years in banking, he went to work for the Federal Public Defenders Office as Chief Investigator, developing friendships over the years that lasted a lifetime.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn Priscilla Casey, whom he treasured for more than fifty years. She was the love of his life. He is also survived by his three daughters, Jennifer A. Casey, Stephanie D. Casey, and Ashley D. Casey and granddaughter Olivia I. Casey. They were his pride and joy. As he lived, he taught his children to live each day to the fullest with integrity, courage, and faith.
In a word, he was a gentleman, gracious and dignified, who served God, his country, and his family, faithfully to the end.
The family would like to thank all those who prayed for Ed. Their prayers were answered, as the Blessed Mother was with him at the hour of his death. She took his hand and led him home.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, May 28th, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral mass at 2:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 724 Camp Street, New Orleans, LA. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery.
