Mr. Dwain T. DeCossas

Dwain Thaddeus DeCossas entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 28, 2014 peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 68. Husband of Sheila L. DeCossas and of the late Rosemary S. DeCossas. Father of Charmaine D. Lissarrague and Ronald J. DeCossas. Step-father of Laura T. Cheramie, Maria T. Bellot, Jennifer Thiele and the late David P. Thiele. Survived by 10 grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents Bartholomew R. DeCossas and Thelma Gleason DeCossas. Survived by his siblings Peggy Knotts and Rene DeCossas. Member of the US Army Reserve. Retired New Orleans Police Department where he received numerous commendations and awards including a Silver Star for Bravery. Dwain was also a former empoyee of Freeport McMoRan. He was loved by everyone he met and was always ready to help anyone in need. Dwain enjoyed antique car shows, browsing antique stores and gardening. He was happiest when he spent time with his family and grandchildren. Dwain loved Jesus and spent his life as a faithful servant always passing on his strong faith to his family and others around him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 12:45 p.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
