Doris “Dot” Pivert Antoine, loving mother, went to be with her Lord on September 21, 2022, at the age of 91 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Loys “Red” Antoine. She is survived by her son, Alan Antoine (Barbara); four daughters, Ann Bufkin Rowland (Kim), Arleen Rodriguez (Rich), Yvette Cuny, and Susan Scheier (Chuck); her sister, June Duffour; her twelve grandchildren, David Antoine, Kelly Bufkin, Jared Antoine (Rachel), Abigail Bufkin, Margaret Rodriguez (Luke), Matthew Rodriguez (Lauren), Christina Gilchrist (Jackson), Eric Scheier, James Bufkin, Rebecca Cuny, Beau Scheier, and Renee Cuny; and her two great grandchildren, Carson and Evelyn Antoine. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Oliver Pivert, Sr. and Irene Holland Pivert; her sister, Alice Hughes; and her brother, Oliver Pivert, Jr.
She was born on November 25, 1930, at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She studied dance, and she graduated from John McDonogh High School in 1949, with special achievement in Science. She then attended Rabouin Vocational School, became a Certified Board Dental Assistant, and worked for a dentist in the Maison Blanche building on Canal Street.
She married “Red” Antoine on September 4, 1954, and resided in Chalmette, Louisiana for the next 50 years. Months before Katrina, she and her husband moved to Picayune, Mississippi, to enjoy the next ten years of their retirement. She then moved to the Windsor Senior Living Community in Mandeville, Louisiana where she resided for eight years. Her last few months were spent in Covington, Louisiana, where she was cared for by her children.
“Dot” was a faithful Catholic, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and always had a beautiful smile.
Visitation and Memorial Mass are planned for Monday, October 3, 2022, at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1501 W. Causeway Approach, Mandeville LA, 70471. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM, with Mass following at 11:00AM. Interment will follow after Mass at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana.
