Donald H. Williams

Don Williams, 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Metairie on July 1, 2017. Don served admirably in the armed forces, where he was trained as a pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps. His 50-year career included Federal Investigator/Inspector for the U.S. Treasury Department, Director of the U. S. Department of Labor and Investigator for Stone, Pigman, Walther, Wittman and Hutchinson. Don was president of the New Orleans Athletic Club for three terms in the 1980s, where he exercised weekly until he was 90 years old. He was an enthusiastic motorcyclist, scuba diver and a gourmet cook. Don is survived by his former wife, Betty Lou Baldini; his son, Barry Williams and wife Shelly; his daughter, Donna Greenawalt and husband Al; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lynnette Sue Williams; and his brother, Jerry Williams. Don is also survived by his devoted companion of 42 years, Carolynn “Kewpie” Udell and her family, son Bart Udell; daughter Carolyn Udell; daughter Gwen Sjunnesen and husband Eric; and granddaughters Erica Sjunnesen and Ingrid Sjunnesen. Services will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 2PM with visitation beginning at noon.
