

Donald Richard Walker, beloved husband of Lynette Vignes Walker, passed away at home on December 21, 2015, surrounded by the family he so loved, following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on September 25, 1952 in Pensacola, Florida the youngest child of Edith “Louise” Godwin and Edward I. Walker who preceded him in death. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force's 906th Air Refueling Squadron (SAC) where he refueled fighter jets while in-flight during the Vietnam War and was awarded an Air Medal for his service. Some of his fondest memories were made while being stationed at Minot Air Force Base in Minot, North Dakota. He later moved to New Orleans, started a family, and had a career in the telecommunications field. He is survived by his children Ashley Walker Ferguson (Adam), Donald “Drew” Walker, Jr. (Claire Miller), Douglas E. Walker (Claire Caputo). He is also survived by his brother Edward I. Walker, and sisters, Mary W. Dugan, and Deborah W. Arrowood (Deke), brother-in-law Larry A. Vignes (Kathy), sisters-in-law, Linda Romero, and Lisa V. Marcello (Norby). He was preceded in death by brother-in-law Allan Dugan, sister-in-law Marty Walker and brother-in-law Leon A. Vignes, III (Gayle). Don is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and his beloved Aunt Vicky and Uncle T.C. Jordon of Century, Florida. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA at 1:00 p.m. A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time.
