Dolores P. “Lola” Griffin passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at the age of 92. Although she was born on Galveston Island, TX, she was a longtime resident of New Orleans, LA, returning to Galveston and Texas City, TX in her later years. She was the wife of the late James E. Griffin. She is the mother of the late Sandra G. Kee and Linda Griffin. She is the devoted grandmother of Kenneth G. Kee Jr. (Charlet), Dee Ann K. Castillo (Jorge), James Emmite (Lisa), Lynette Emmite, Shannon E. Long (Shane). She is survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Francisco and Dionisia Perez; brothers, Domingo, Trinidad, Charles and Guadalupe Perez; sisters, Margaret Ottman, Mary Ann Caballero and Petra Gonzales. While settled in New Orleans she raised her two grandchildren, Kenneth and Dee Ann. Family members wish to extend their gratitude to her loving niece Rose Ann Galicia and husband Salvador, for all their love and devoted care in her final years. She was retired from the telephone company (AT&T) after a 35 year career. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. While in Texas City she joined the Senior Center, and attended daily for almost 5 years where her friends nicknamed her the “Secretary”. She was full of life and a constant jokester. She will be remembered for her loyal dedication to her family, her caring-loving spirit and her infectious laughter. She will always be lovingly known as “Maw Maw”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La. on Monday, March 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
