Dianne Perkins was born October 27, 1948 in New Orleans to Audrey and Dr. Warren Perkins, growing up in Gentilly along with her three younger siblings, Warren Jr., Robert, and Jo Anne. She attended St. James Major High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in History from LSU as well as a teacher’s certification from Delgado. She married Dennis Paul Butler in 1972, and though they divorced in 2000, they remained lifelong friends until his passing in 2007. Among her many achievements, she owned and operated an antique shop, taught high school English and History, and was an expert bridge player. She is survived by her daughters, Leigh Butler, Elizabeth Butler, and Kate Butler; her grandsons Remington, Jackson, and Sebastian; and her brother Warren Perkins Jr. Dianne loved to dance and make babies laugh, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude’s Hospital or the LASPCA.
