Debra "Debbie" Stein McCants

On October 9, 2024, Debra (Debbie) Stein McCants gained her angel wings and went home to be with our Lord. Debbie was from Chalmette, LA. and moved to Harvey, LA. after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Debbie was a dedicated worker for Bellsouth/ AT&T for 42 years. She was Married to the love of her life Randy for 37 years. Her greatest joy came from her grandkids. She loved being their Nana and she became Nana to so many others as well, as she followed them with their education, sports, music, and other activities. Debbie loved to cook for her family and friends and her door was always open. She never met a stranger and always wanted to see the best in others.

Her battle with cancer ended at West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, LA., where she was surrounded by family. She is survived by her daughters Sandra McCants Schexnayder (Chris), and Kristy McCants Murden (Robbie); and grandchildren Kyle, Kody and Kaleb Schexnayder; and Jaci and Rhett Murden and her sister Donna Stein Maeder (Bob). She will be forever missed by her extended family, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Randall Alan McCants, her parents Benoit (Benny) J. Stein, Sr. and Aimee A. Savoy Stein, and brothers Benoit (Benny) Stein, Jr. and Michael E. Stein.

There will be a celebration of life to honor Debbie on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at The White House, 209 Lafayette Street, Gretna, LA 70053. Socializing begins at 5pm and will be followed by more formal activities at 6pm. All who knew Debra are invited to attend to share memories and enjoy light refreshments. Her stated wishes are for everyone attending to dress in bright colors, and in lieu of flowers, please share a meal with your family and tell them how much you love them. We will forever miss our Debbie, (Mom and Nana)
