David Eric Williams

Born November 27, 1960, David Eric developed a passion for music and dancing from a young age. His love for life was palpable whenever he hit the dance floor, and his joy was contagious to all around him.

A die hard football fan, David Eric’s weekends were often spent cheering for his favorite teams—the New Orleans Saints, the LSU Tigers, and the University of Michigan Wolverines. Whether in the stands or at home, he was always the loudest and most enthusiastic supporter. His unwavering loyalty for his teams was contagious, often bringing friends and family together for spirited gameday gatherings.

David Eric also enjoyed spending his weekends on the Irish Hills Lakes of Michigan, where he spent countless summers boating and relaxing, making cherished memories with family and friends. Known for hosting lively summer get togethers, David Eric loved to bring everyone together with his passion for food and fun.

A successful auto dealer in southeast Michigan, David Eric’s career was marked by his exceptional talent as a salesman and his tireless work ethic. He built a thriving business from the ground up, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and clients alike. David Eric’s natural ability to connect with people and make everyone feel valued was a cornerstone of his leadership, making him not just a dealer but a respected mentor to many.

David Eric is survived by his Mother, Judith Newman; Angela Ouber Dutel, Louis Dutel IV, sisters Kim Williams, Kathleen Libman, (Jon) Nancy Wymer, and Janine Durabb; and brothers Matthew Williams (Gina) and Chip Newman (Cathy), Lisa Wolff. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. David Eric was preceded in death by his father, the beloved Colonel Frank R. Newman.

Visitation for David Eric will be held Monday, May 27, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, and interment thereafter at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
