With heavy hearts, our family announces the peaceful passing of David Allen Pippin, on July 15, 2024. He was 74 years old and lifetime resident of New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from John F Kennedy High School and later from The University of New Orleans. After college, he worked for the Kaiser Aluminum Plant in Chalmette, LA as an Engineer. He moved to the family business, Reuthers Seafood Company, until his retirement.
As a pastime, David enjoyed the hobbies of flying radio controlled airplanes, duck and boar hunting, and Bluewater fishing. In 1997, he won the Mississippi State record for catching the largest Blue Marlin in the area, weighing 917 lbs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Allison Pippin and Althea Dolores Reuther, and his daughter, April Mary Pippin. David was the beloved husband of 46 years to Sheila Cain Pippin and loving father to Kristin Pippin-Resor (Jason), Kimberly Michelle Vance (Michael), and Matthew David Pippin (Katie). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Logan Pippin, Brenden Pippin, William Vance, Charles Vance, Jude Vance, Lucy Pippin and Olivia Pippin.
We would like to thank all caretakers who have been with him over the past 12 years, especially Delise Bell, Valencia Montgomery, Anita Skidmore, Terrylan Diggs, and his close friend / therapist Jenni Doiron.
All family and friends are invited to join our family on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 9:00am until Mass and burial at 12:00 pm. Interment to follow in Metairie Cemetery.
