David Michael Aplin passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 14, 2016 in the early morning. He was 65 years old. He was born on December 31st, 1950 in Gauley Bridge, West Virginia, to James Edward Aplin and Geraldine Cable Aplin. He is survived by his loving spouse Mary Kay Wright Aplin, his sister Ann Williams of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, his devoted cousin Gloria Campbell of Catawba, Virginia, and a host of family and friends. David retired from the United States Air Force after serving 20 years. He was stationed in Vietnam, and his last assignment was at NORAD, Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado. After he retired he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Loyola University New Orleans. He worked there for many years as the Assistant to the Director of the Criminal Justice Program, where he affected the lives of so many students. He will be sorely missed by his wife and family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will be held prior to the services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
