A lifelong resident of New Orleans, Darlyn attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Holy Name of Jesus High School. After graduating, she worked in various sectors of the business world, including the International Trade Mart and the Plimsoll Club.
She was married to the love of her life, Emile Joseph Ramirez for 35 years. Darlyn became a homemaker and was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and the New Orleans Spring Fiesta Association, among other organizations. Her love of New Orleans and good food always brought her to the newest restaurants. “The cat is on the stove” was her favorite expression and meant she was not cooking. Darlyn was a devout Catholic as well as a devoted mother, wife, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emile Joseph Ramirez, brother Ronald J. Mercadal and sister Diana Mercadal Friedel. She is survived by her daughter, Nicole Ramirez Mancuso (Brett), to whom she devoted her life; her brother Glenn Mercadal (Kim) along with their children Amanda and Joshua; and her nephews Mitchell Friedel (Denise) and Trent Friedel (Laura). She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation for Darlyn will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 PM, with interment thereafter at Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, Louisiana 70124.
