Darlene Garcia

Darlene Dodds Garcia, mother of three children, died at home on Monday, March 28th, 2022. She was 71 years old. Her death was preceded by the passing of her daughter Melisa Garcia. She leaves behind her daughter Robin Garcia Desforges, her son-in-law David Desforges, her son Michael Garcia, her daughter-in-law Brigette Garcia, and her four grandchildren Brooke Desforges Williams, Jeremy Desforges, Izabel Garcia, and Madelyn Garcia. She is survived by her three sisters Barbara (Dodds) Kravsow, Becky Dodds, and Carolyn (Dodds) Rooney, their spouses, and several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was a strong single mother who provided a stable home and household for her children. She was always there to support her children when they needed her. She was an avid Saints fan that rarely missed a game and she loved watching competitive TV shows like Big Brother and American Idol. She loved traveling to see her children, grandchildren, and sisters, and would often spend several months visiting with her loved ones. Watching her grandchildren grow and being a part of their lives played an important role in Darlene’s life.

Services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM followed by a service at 2:00PM. Interment will be at Lake Lawn Park. The family invites you to share fond memories and condolences online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
