Dale E. Nelson

Dale E. Nelson passed away December 3, 2018 at his home in Gonzales, Louisiana. Dale was born December 18, 1935 in Viborg, South Dakota to Walter and Carrie Nelson. Dale attended country School and Viborg High where he graduated. After graduation, he enlisted into the Army; spending most of his 2 years in Germany.

On January 26, 1958, he married Barbara Faye Petersen. In those married years, they lived in many states while working in the finance business. Finally moving to Kenner, Louisiana, where they settled, owning and operating Stanford’s True Value Hardware and later on adding the rental business to their operation. After retiring, they traveled and finally moved back to Louisiana, making their home in the Gonzales, Louisiana area.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters, Vernon, Wayne, Doris and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; nephews, David Nelson (Jenny), Bill Cyrier (Karin) and numerous other nieces and nephews and their families.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services held in the chapel at Lake Lawn Metarie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
