A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Cindi attended John F. Kennedy and Riverdale High Schools. She began her professional career in export management with D.F. Young, Inc. in New Orleans. After Hurricane Katrina, Cindi relocated to Houston, where she was joined by lifelong friends Emily Christensen, Janet Guidry, and Jan Harrell. Over the years, Cindi held management positions at the Alliance of International Forwarders and Atlas Heavy Projects, LLC, retiring in 2023.
Cindi found joy in her work, home improvement projects, and cherished moments spent with family and friends. Reconnecting with her Texas family helped her establish roots there, but her heart always remained in New Orleans. She made it a priority to visit often or companion loved ones from afar, sharing in their joys and sorrows. Cindi was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend who extended kindness, generosity and a quick wit to everyone she met, from all walks of life. It is no surprise that she was surrounded by so many unexpected angels during her mercifully short cancer journey—among them, Rosie Browning, Kerri Weller of Caring Transitions, Windy Webb of Seniors Helping Seniors, Nurse Rochelle of Heart to Heart Hospice, and her devoted, lighthearted caregiver “family” Natalie, Wynette, Vetrone, Joseph, and Chelsea.
Cindi is survived by her mother, Myrl Stevens Stutson; stepfather, Harold J. Stutson; stepmother, Ann M. Aleman; siblings Sharron (Paul) May, Tara Aleman, Troy Aleman, and Chad (Jennifer) Aleman; uncle Randall Aleman; aunt Christy (Aleman) Abernathy; nephew Avery May; nieces Alexandria (Nick) and Jessilee Myers, Kate and Kinley Aleman; and numerous cousins, including Laurie Brown, Timothy Brown, Shannon (David) Hattier, Brayden Hattier, and Chloee Magner.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles M. Aleman; her brother, Steven D. Aleman; her grandparents Theodore “Tats” Stevens, Vivian T. Stevens, Charles M. Aleman Sr., and Juliette D. Aleman; her aunts June S. Brown and Carol B. Aleman and her uncles Patrick “Terry” Brown and Samuel “Sam” Abernathy.
