Concetta (Tina) Battaglia Chierici, age 97, and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana for 50 years, a parishioner of St. Clement of Rome parish, earlier a resident of New Orleans, the city of her birth, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014. Daughter of the late Salvatore Battaglia and Marie Greco, wife of the late Eugenio (Giovanni) Chierici, beloved mother of Eugene S. Chierici, (Mary Lou), Giovanni “John” Chierici, and Philip B. Chierici. Grandmother of Rachel, Brooke and Lauren Chierici, Christina Gross, Alison Alonso, and Gabrielle Stewart. Great-grandmother of Jamie Chierici and Joshua Buisson. Sister of Mrs. Lorenzo (Eleanor) Nuzzolillo; the late Angela, Rosa, Josephine, Guy, and Philip Battaglia; Mrs. Larry (Ann) Gianconteri, and Mrs. John (Vergie) DiStefano.
Tina was born in New Orleans during the Great Depression, part of the greatest generation. She met her future husband, Giovanni, during World War II. After the war, they travelled to Italy to be married. They returned to the city she loved to raise three sons. Tina worked in the banking industry. Her husband of 59 years worked for The Boeing Company, in New Orleans, as a machinist in the Aerospace Division. In the 1980’s, they relocated to Seattle. After retiring from Boeing, they moved back to New Orleans, travelled extensively throughout Europe and maintained a close relationship with their extended family in Italy, visiting many times with their sons. She was always busy in the kitchen, as she loved to cook and spend time with family and neighbors.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM.
